Biochar as a soil amendment increases water retention, but not all of this additional water is necessarily available to plants. Differences in the effectiveness of Biochar in improving soil water limitations are because of differences in feedstock cell structure.<\/p>\n<h2>Harnessing Microbial Activity for Nutrient Absorption<\/h2>\n<h3>Optimizing Plant Growth with Biochar&#8217;s Porous Structure<\/h3>\n<p>\t\tResearch has shown that feedstock cell structure influences the pore structure of Biochar and, consequently, the volume available for water storage. The CEC of Biochar helps stop nutrients from leeching away in the soil.<\/p>\n<h2>Increasing Agricultural Productivity with Biochar<\/h2>\n<h3>Field Studies and Crop Yield Impact<\/h3>\n<p>\t\tBy increasing soil pH, moisture content, and nutrient retention, Biochar helps increase crop yield.
