Leading the Green Revolution

About us

FORCHAR is the leading company in manufacturing and distributing alternative energy in terms of biochar production in Quebec. Our Biochar is made of residual organic matter (REM) or biomass, which comes largely from a single source and is almost exclusively from biomass collected from our privately owned forest lands. Thanks to these fibres, we can offer our customers an exceptional quality of Biochar solutions with unequivocal traceability of the products.

Quality and Traceability

Leading in Biochar

FORCHAR stands as Quebec’s leading company in the manufacturing and distribution of biochar-based alternative energy. Our biochar is produced from residual organic matter (REM), sourced primarily from a single, sustainable origin: biomass harvested from our privately owned forest lands. This consistent and exclusive use of high-quality fibers enables us to provide our customers with exceptional biochar solutions, ensuring unmatched product quality and full traceability throughout the supply chain.

Efficiency and Savings

Quebec's Biochar

From the dynamic intersection of ecology, agriculture, energy, technology, and economics, our Quebec-based venture proudly emerged. Now, with the introduction of FORCHAR’s biochar, the efficient use of organic resources becomes a reality, boosting productivity and reducing the need for costly inputs across various systems. Using our biochar provides immediate financial benefits, significantly lowering direct production costs and positively impacting profitability.

Biochar's Role

Carbon Sequestration

Biochar is a powerful carbon sequestration tool, harnessing nature’s own processes. Through photosynthesis, trees capture carbon from the air, and instead of allowing it to be released when the tree dies, our pyrolysis process transforms biomass into biochar. This physicochemical transformation locks the carbon within the biochar, which can contain up to 80% carbon, preventing its release into the atmosphere. Biochar is a key ally in the fight against climate change, offering unparalleled environmental benefits and a positive impact on ecosystems. No other technology today offers such a sustainable solution.

Eco-Friendly Production

Sustainable Innovation

Research and innovation in production for sustainable development—both technologically and in public health breakthroughs—have reshaped how we approach production management, focusing on sustainability to enhance performance. Our approach aligns seamlessly with sustainability and ecological principles, addressing consumer concerns and societal expectations regarding environmental impact and product choices. This commitment ensures that our solutions not only meet high standards but also contribute positively to the planet and society.

Collaborating for Global Impact

International Biochar Initiative (IBI)

Today, most biochar-related activities are driven by the International Biochar Initiative (IBI), a non-profit organization established in 2006 by Johannes Lehmann, IBI Chairman, and Stephen Joseph of the University of New South Wales. The IBI serves as a platform for scientists, climate-change policy formulators, NGOs, and businesses to exchange information and support national initiatives, including those in the USA, China, and India. Its primary objectives are to promote biochar research, raise awareness, and establish quality and sustainability standards. As the scientific understanding of biochar grows, the IBI is increasingly focusing on the economics and business models that will enable large-scale adoption of biochar technology in sustainable and financially viable ways.
